Who hasn’t heard the famous song lyric ‘New York , New York so good they named it twice’. So what is it about New York that appeals to so many? We asked one of our top management team there, why he made the decision to relocate to New York City.
‘As someone whose New York experience prior to moving here was mostly from Ninja Turtles and Seinfeld, there were certainly some surprises and unexpected hurdles in trying to find my place in the city. Even after about 9 months here, I’m still finding something fresh and new on almost every street corner. However with perseverance and effort, I’d say that anyone can find their place here.
It’s the city that never sleeps, the perfect place for an insomniac like me. From the warm summer nights with the bright lights of Times Square; to the leaves changing in the autumn leading into cold, but magical energy in the city during the holiday seasons in December; New York is the place where you can experience anything and everything you can imagine. New York charms you.
Now that the snow has melted, and spring has arrived, the 8.5 million people who call New York home are livelier than ever. After the cold winters New Yorkers genuinely appreciate the appearance of fresh blooms in the many parks . You can find family-friendly parks on nearly every block surrounded by skyscrapers filled with working professionals trying to follow their dreams.
New York has the reputation of being a fiercely competitive city. This is true but this spirit of competition has a very positive effect. The quality of services in the city is second to none, especially when it comes to food.
The city is also a marvel of civil engineering. From the subway that takes you just about anywhere you want to go in the city; to the constant new construction and improvements to the buildings, it really is a sight to behold. There are so many people here, and yet you can still find plenty of empty park benches, seats at a bar or restaurant, or tickets to a show. New York is really the cultural capital of the world! I would invite everyone to experience the city at least once in their life.
