Fun & Games at LSI Schools in London

It’s been a busy but very enjoyable month at LSI schools in London – here’s a sample of a few of the fun things students and staff have been getting up to in the British capital…

LSI London Hampstead – Table Tennis Mania!
– An LSI Hampstead student writes about the sporting event of the year, the LSI Hampstead Table Tennis Championships.

“This week we arranged a table tennis tournament for our students and staff. For three days, table tennis was the number one topic amongst the students. During every break, table tennis enthusiasts rushed to the table tennis room to practice their skills. In addition to grabbing the attention of students who had some experience in table tennis from before, many students were inspired to try their skills in one of the most popular indoor games.

Traditionally, table tennis is mostly associated with Asian countries. However, students from Europe were almost as interested in testing their skills against their fellow students and staff members.

Since we had to use a round-robin system where the loser was eliminated from the competition, every game was important and filled with drama and big emotions.  The quality of the games was good . One of our older students even commented after one especially exciting game that “this was table tennis, not ping pong”.

All in all, the tournament was a great success in many ways. Students enjoyed the competitive but friendly atmosphere and we all made new friends. So, who won the tournament? The well-deserved winner was Christine, one of our teachers who amazed us all with her precision and speed. Congratulations!”

LSI London Central – The Lion King
– LSI London Central students enjoy a night out at one of the West End’s best musicals.

On Tuesday, November 6th, some 25 LSI London Central students went to see the Lion King musical as part of our social programme.

The Lion King is one of the most popular musicals in London and has been running at the Lyceum theatre since 1999. London has the most famous theatre scene in the world with scores of plays taking place every single night from big-budget musicals to intimate fringe shows. There really is something for every taste and every budget.

Students Melodye Alvarez from Chile and Eva Sluismans from Belgium said ‘We love it! The Lion King is just amazing. Decorations and costumes are perfect! This moment is unforgettable for us!’

LSI London Central is located in the very heart of the British Capital, minutes from everything London has to offer. We offer General English, Examination Preparation, Business and Executive Mini Group and one-to-one courses alongside a wide range of accommodation options. We regularly offer cut-price tickets for theatre shows as part of our social programme. For more information, contact lon@lsi.edu .
