LSI Independent Sixth Form College successfully passed its recent inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), which took place just before Christmas. Among the highlights of the report were the strong pastoral support that the College provides for its A Level and GCSE students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inspectors recognised that \u201cThe college\u2019s pastoral structure provides excellent levels of support and guidance for the students in accordance with the college\u2019s aims\u201d and that \u201cPastoral support for students is excellent and the college is highly effective in ensuring that it meets its aim of providing a learning environment which is nurturing and supportive\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We were very pleased that in their questionnaires and in their meetings with the inspectors that our students informed the inspectors that they \u201cconfirm they are happy and feel very well supported\u201d. The College prides itself on its friendly atmosphere so we were delighted that the inspection report picked up on the fact that \u201cStudents are appropriately educated in a highly supportive environment\u201d and that \u201cRelationships between staff and students are excellent\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the\nacademic side, the inspectors reported very positively on the expertise of the\nCollege teachers, noting that \u201cTeachers have excellent subject knowledge, are\nenthusiastic and motivate their students to enjoy and engage with their\nlearning. They have a clear knowledge of students\u2019 previous learning and\nconsistently challenge even the most able\u201d. They also reported that:\n\u201cFeedback to students is positive, encouraging and clearly identifies areas for\nimprovement\u201d; that \u201cThere are highly effective systems in place to monitor\nstudents\u2019 progress and attainment\u201d and that \u201cThe progress of each student is\ncarefully tracked, allowing teachers and students to monitor progress\neffectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Safeguarding is of paramount for\nany educational establishment, so we were also very pleased that the inspectors\nwere able to report that \u201cArrangements for the safeguarding of students under\nthe age of 18 are excellent\u201d and that \u201cStudents\u2019 welfare, including health and\nsafety, is excellent\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
