Life’s a Beach at LSI San Diego English Winter Camp for Kids

Monday, February 11th, 2013

LSI San Diego is proud to offer a wonderful Young Learner English camp program in January as well as during the summer months.  Students from ages 8-17 study English in the classroom during the morning and then go out into beautiful San Diego in the afternoon where they can experience beaches, year-round perfect weather and a huge variety of cultural and entertainment options.  Weekend trips to nearby Los Angeles or other nearby locations are included.

This January, 70 young learners joined us here in San Diego.  During the mornings they got to interact with students from all over the world while improving their English.  In the afternoons they enjoyed activities such as the world famous San Diego zoo, visiting FIVE different San Diego beaches, shopping at the bargain hunters’ dream, Las Americas Outlet Mall, and travelled to Disneyland, Six Flags Adventure Park, Palm Springs, and a tour of Los Angeles during the weekend.

We also love working with the wonderful agency group leaders who work so hard to make sure their students have the best experience.  Claudio and Leila, pictured above, from International Schools in Brazil spent four weeks with us this year.  It was Claudio’s fourth January returning with students!  He is definitely part of the LSI family.  We look forward to seeing both of them in 2014!

LSI offers new Young Learner locations for summer 2012

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Since introducing our Young Learner programmes three years ago, the demand for  these popular courses has continued to rise and has prompted LSI to open yet more centres where we can offer the courses. Last year we ran the programme at our centres in Toronto, San Diego, Brighton and London Hampstead with great success. Higher numbers than ever booked the course and in San Diego they even ran a campus based course for the younger students (11-13 years). Chichester, our first all campus based course, was also introduced and attracted many young teenagers who were keen to experience travel and study but in a more protected environment.  Due to the increased demand LSI will be  offering campus based programmes at London Kingston and New York  for 2012 as well as running the programme in all last year’s locations. These courses represent great value for money and an unforgettable experience for all those lucky students who get places on the programme. Check out the main website if you are interested in booking for this year!

Following on from the success of the Young Learner’s course in our Toronto school in 2007, this summer we extended this fantastic programme to one of our UK schools, LSI London Hampstead. This language course, aimed at young people between the ages of 13 to 17, ran between June and August and attracted many eager students from around the world. Carefully designed to provide a balanced mix between formal language classes and informal language learning opportunities via the many social activities offered, the Young Learner’s course has proved to be a roaring success in its first season at London Hampstead.

Whilst only a 15 minute tube ride away from the bustling, cosmopolitan centre of London, LSI London Hampstead is located in one on London’s most beautiful and wealthy suburbs providing the ideal, tranquil environment for younger students.

“My parents choose this course for me and I wasn’t happy to spend all my holiday on a language course instead of being with friends. When I arrived at the course I had so much fun. I made so many new friends and my English improved a lot. I want to go to this school again next summer.” Hans, aged 15, from Germany.

Part of the explanation behind the successful introduction of the Young Learner’s course to LSI London Hampstead, may lie in the family atmosphere offered in the school. School director, Tania Valentin, offers the following insight – “Many people say that the school feels like a family because of the friendly welcoming atmosphere. We get to know all our students as individuals and are there to provide help and advice whenever needed. I think this is especially important for the younger students. Parents want to know their children are being well looked after.”

As a result of the success of the Young Learners’ programmes in the UK and Canada, for 2009 we have decided to extend the programme to the USA. In addition to the Young Learners’ Programmes at Toronto and London Hampstead, we will be also offering the course at LSI San Diego. Find out more about the Young Learners course for 2009.
